Derek Fisher has acknowledged his recent glow from the La Lakers star player.
The team secured a dominant 124-109 victory over the depleted New Orleans Pelicans’ side, which had no key players.
The trio of LeBron James, Austin Reeves and Luka Donsic led the way in combining 92 points in a victory over Pers.
Dalton Knecht was also impressed by his 12 points and continued his La Lakers glow when he was called out.
The Access SportsNet crew were discussing the Lakers’ victory and Fisher, a former Laker.
Reaves 30 points against the Pels occurred with 61.5% shooting from the field.
He scored over 30 points in four of his final five games, shooting 15 threes over two game spans, setting a franchise record as well.
Speaking about him on the show, Fisher said:
“So, considering Austin’s ability to play offense right now, he was pretty efficient before, and his efficiency continued to increase.
The Reaves have been great for the Lakers all season, especially since the All-Star break.
He has seven games with over 30 points since the All-Star break.
The Reaves entered the league as an undrafted player greeted by the Lakers.
However, in his rookie season itself, it was clear that he had all the attributes needed to become a successful NBA player.
Since his first year, Reeves has grown from strength to strength, helping him become a Western competitor in the Lakers’ development.
The deal that brought Doncic to the team was expected to keep pushing the pecking order behind the age of 26, but that wasn’t the case.
Reaves got more open shots to play with, making it easier to play with Doncic.
Reaves has already adopted the role of leadership of the team and also offers valuable advice to Rookie Knecht.
Once the team enters the playoffs, Reeves become their key weapon as their offensive and defensive capabilities will help them go a long way.
