Derrick Lewis spoke loudly with his fist at the main event at UFC Nashville.
Following a 35-second knockout of Tarison Teisheyla at Bridesgain Arena on Saturday, Lewis removed his shorts, and Mime urinated in the opponent’s corner, threw a cup into the stands, threw a crowd moon, and expressed his intention to love his wife in a speech that fought his wife.
Check out his interview below.
Talking to Cageside commenter and past Octagon enemy Daniel Cormier, Lewis explained his antics about his urinating part.
“They were talking shit all week,” Lewis told Cormier. “I’m shit for a week. I can’t speak Portuguese, but I’m sure they’re talking shit about me. f*ck ’em.”
Lewis’ celebrations have become a major part of his popularity, along with his reputation as perhaps the most feared knockout artist in UFC history. Teixeira’s punch-out has led Lewis to extend the KOS/TKOS promotional record to 16, and is now tied with Donald “Cowboy” Theron, the most finished in UFC history behind Jim Miller (17) and Charles Oliveira (20).
The halt has been argued several controversy when referee Jason Herzog intervened to leave the match with Teisheira, who works to return to his feet. However, Lewis landed a hard punch and Teixella could only rise by illegally grabbing the fence with both hands.
Lewis was not grateful for Teixeira’s misconduct.
“It’s a Hoas movement right there,” Lewis said. “I know I hurt his ass.”
The 42 fight veteran added that Teixeira was not impressed with Saturday’s 8-0 record heading for the headliner, given the level of competition the Brazilians have faced so far.
“I knew he was fighting his entire career with cans of tomatoes, so shit, thank you UFC for helping your boys. “I know the boys they’re trying to get into a limo, but shit, they’re not going to get it for me.”
At an evening postwar press conference, Lewis detailed his feelings about the suspension.
“Yes, I was hoping for a ref,” Lewis said. “The Ref should have stopped it because (Teixeira) came in and out a few times before he started grabbing the cage.”
“I know they’ll be off if they throw something to anyone or whatever it is,” he added.
