Tyrees Halliburton’s catastrophic Game 7 injury continues to dominate the NBA conversation.
The Indiana Pacers star managed just seven minutes ago before entering the championship decision contest.
The Oklahoma City Thunder won the title after beating Pacer in seven tough games. However, many believe that the early exit at Halliburton had a major impact on the final outcome.
Desmond Bane recently provided an exclusive update on the status of his friend. The new Magic Guard witnessed first-hand the heartbreaking moments while participating in Game 7 at the arena.
Bane described the emotional experience of watching Tyreece Halliburton suffer from an injury during the biggest stages of basketball.
The veteran security guard quickly knew something was serious wrong. “If you see him not getting up from the floor and see how the team and trainers react, you can say it’s serious and I wanted the best thing for him,” Bane explained.
Bane provided encouraging news about the current state of the All-Star. Their recent conversation suggests that despite the devastating setback, Halliburton remains in good spirits.
“I was actually texting him this morning, and it’s more about life than anything,” Bain told Zack Lowe’s podcast.
“It was hard to convey because it’s alive. It’s hard to pick up small nuances and things like that.”
“He seems to have a decent mentality and I’m sure he’ll come back and attack this rehab and get better,” Bane said with confidence.
Bain also praised Halliburton’s selfless leadership style that defines Indiana’s success. Bane believes the point guard won’t receive enough credit to sacrifice personal statistics for the team’s victory.
“I don’t think every team has Tyrees Halliburton, a superstar who’s willing to be criticized, but I think they’re filming six-shot games and other 15-shot games,” explained Bane. “It drips all over the team.”
“There are different people on different nights, like Siakam, Obitoppin, Miles Turner, (Andrew) Nenbird, or (Aaron) Nesmith,” he said.
“That kind of thing is hard to replicate, and the only way you have is if you have a selfish leader, I don’t think they get enough credibility for the type of people,” concluded Bane.
The Pacers are eagerly waiting for the return of Floor General next season. And in the meantime, they also need to fix what they are ready to compete again.
