Ferrari manager Frédéric Vasseur insists there remains “trust” between him and Lewis Hamilton despite a disappointing 2025 F1 season.
Hamilton’s move to Ferrari has not lived up to expectations.
The seven-time world champions are yet to finish on the podium as a team.
The SF-25’s performance has been poor, leaving Ferrari the only team in the top four of the constructors’ championship without a win so far this season.
Despite the tough tone, Vasseur believes he and Hamilton still fully trust each other.
“Lewis came in with great expectations and motivation and everything else,” Vasseur said.
“With Lewis, at first…we say ‘tu neuf’ in French, everything is great, everything is new, and we have to calm down.
“Mercedes has done better in some areas and we have done better in some other areas.”
Hamilton’s improvement attracts attention
Vasseur feels Hamilton is now on an upward trajectory after a difficult result.
The Frenchman emphasized that the Spanish Grand Prix was a breakthrough weekend for Hamilton.
Hamilton struggled before the summer break and had a bad weekend at the Hungarian Grand Prix, finishing outside the points.
After the break, Hamilton proved to be close to Leclerc, often closing within a tenth of his teammate.

We continue to wait for Hamilton’s first podium finish.
The 40-year-old’s only top-three finish this year was in the Chinese sprint race, where he dominated from pole position.
“You could say that during his time at Barcelona, he came back stronger,” Vasseur added.
“He is improving with the composition of the team. The team is improving with the composition of Lewis. So we have to make a kind of ‘mayonnaise’ now!”
“We need to improve step by step. I know that I can trust him and he knows that he can trust me, which is important. He knows that I will give my all to the team’s performance.”
