Matching Michael Jordan Rookie’s statistics, Bronnie James should be enough to show how much the NBA has improved.
Usually, it’s rarely expected from fans around the world to be the 55th overall pick in the NBA Draft.
But for LeBron James’ eldest son, one of the greatest basketball players of all time, things are different. Despite being a second-round pick in the second round, Bronnie James was criticised by critics throughout his rookie year.
There was no remaining left to play a game before the end of the first NBA season, but Brony matched one of the stats of Michael Jordan in the rookie year of the 1984-85 season.
Chicago Bulls legend Michael Jordan is widely considered a goat. After seeing his career, it didn’t take long for MJ to announce his arrival in the league.
After all, Jordan played all 82 games in his rookie year, averaging 28.2 points, 6.5 rebounds and 5.9 assists per game. Comparing Jordan’s rookie years with Brony’s years is by no means fair to the Lakers guard.
However, there is one thing that shocks many NBA fans. Despite playing in just 143 minutes in 26 games in his rookie year, Bronnie has the same number of three-point shots that MJ had.
James Jr. now has nine three pointers in his name, and so did Jordan in his newcomer year. However, MJ shot just 17.3% from the three-point line, compared to Brony’s 30.0%.
So far, James Jr. has been overwhelming numbers with 2.2 points, 0.6 rebounds and 0.6 assists in his rookie season.
But even so, he was comparable to MJ’s three-pointer. This should be eye-opening for former NBA players who claim that the older days of the league featured more talented players.
Certainly, the old-fashioned games were more physical, but that’s it. Modern NBA players are more skilled and can play on both ends of the floor.
This is especially true in terms of deep shooting, as young athletes practice these shots even before they enter the NBA.
