The 2024-25 NBA season was an eventful campaign for veteran guard Dennis Schroeder.
He was traded with the Golden State Warriors while Dennis Schroeder began his season at Brooklyn Net.
However, after a brief stint with the Warriors, Schroeder found himself with the Detroit Pistons for the final stretch of the season.
Currently 31 years old, Schroeder is an unlimited free agent this summer. Speaking of which, the 12-year veteran dropped an inexplicable update on his future with the Pistons.
Schroder played 28 games on pistons during the 2024-25 NBA season, averaging 10.8 points, 2.6 rebounds and 5.3 assists per game.
Those are decent numbers, but are the pistons enough to get the veteran security guard back? Well, as things stand now, Piston has not contacted Schroeder about a potential contract extension.
“I certainly want to stay in Detroit, but Detroit isn’t waiting for me. I can tell you a lot,” Schroeder said on the livestream, H/T NBA Central.
Schroeder may not have stated that directly, but he implied that it is unlikely that the piston would bring him back after a short but solid stint.
With 12 years of experience in his name, Schroeder is a veteran veteran who can still meet his starting point guard role in the team.
Certainly, his warrior stint was a shame, but as Steve Nash pointed out, Schroeder thrived on the pistons. Therefore, it will increase his value in many teams around the league.
Of these teams, the Memphis Grizzlies might be the perfect fit for Schroeder. He could be a great addition to the team, especially as the Grizzlies traded Desmond Bain.
