Some say that Cardio is the king of MMA. So some fans have defeated Diego Lopez along with Alexander Volkanovsky and defeated him in upcoming UFC title fights.
Volkanovski (26-4 MMA, 13-3 UFC) and Lopes (26-6 MMA, 5-1 UFC) will be held next month at the main event at UFC 314. In Miami, Florida.
Lopez, who has won five consecutive wins since losing his UFC debut, quickly became a star in the division. But despite being respected by many, some remain skeptical of the possibility of winning the title. Especially after seeing him lose steam last summer after beating Dan IGE at UFC 303.
“(Volkanovski) complains that a lot of people may not be doing cardio in five rounds, so I think I might go there and mix the game,” Lopez told Habelmos MMA in Spanish. “I’m late because people are still stuck on what happened in the fight with Dan Ige. But it’s fine. People have mouths and they’ll say whatever they want. We’re ready for the best version of Volkanovski and ready to see the best version.”
Lopez was originally scheduled to compete with Brian Ortega in UFC 303 in a short period of time. In a series of events, Ortega retreated from the match due to illness on the day of the fight, and Ige informed him for several hours to fight Lopez with a 160-pound patient.
The Brazilian said he was influenced by the brief notice and also by fighting 15 pounds with what he originally agreed to. Lopez feels that by keeping his distance in UFC 306 and taking control of Ortega, he has redeemed his next fight. So I couldn’t care much about what critics had to say.
“That’s fine. I’m not bothering them at all,” explained Lopez. “People have mouths, and they’ll say whatever they want, and they don’t want to see things like they do.
“Why is no one mentioning the knockdown I went to Brian Ortega in the third round and how I was doing that in that third round? I won all three rounds and ruled that fight. Why don’t people mention it? Why don’t the judges give me 30-26?
“I can’t understand. People forget things. People have short memories. They just want to remember what they remember, and that’s fine. Ok. A lot of those people are fans of those fighters. I’m fighting, so they go ahead and say I don’t have the cardio to fight them.”
