Donovan Mitchell admitted that he should be better at the end of Game 2, while clarifying his status in Game 3.
The Cleveland Cavaliers once again lost to the Indiana Pacers at home, and now they’re 0-2 in the second round series.
Tyreese Halliburton was once again a star of the show. After the match, Halliburton took several shots with the Cavaliers fanbase, mercilessly rocking him.
Halliburton was motivated by the “overrated” chant that he faced by the Cavaliers crowd. Donovan Mitchell defended Halliburton from those claims, but he was unable to contain the Pacers star.
It’s not that Mitchell didn’t have the opportunity. And after the game he explained why he was so disappointed in himself with the way he played. Because Mitchell is overcoming the pain.

In a post-game comment, Donovan Mitchell revealed that he went into Game 2 dealing with some injuries.
But he doesn’t want to use it as an excuse. Because the entire Cavaliers team is dealing with injuries. And as for his status in Game 3, he made sure he struggled tonight but was ready by Friday.
“I’m being banged, we’re all like that. It’s… I really wasn’t watching anyone else. I was just trying to wake up, but I couldn’t move.
Mitchell is a star player for the Cavaliers. Given the injuries issues of Darius Garland, Evan Mobley and DeAndre Hunter, we can’t afford to lose Mitchell, especially 2-0 in these playoffs.

Donovan Mitchell was absolutely fantastic despite the loss of the Cavaliers. The All-Star Guard scored 48 points in what was one of the most electric outings in recent playoff history.
The numbers show that Mitchell was just 14% from 3, but he was 50% overall from the field.

There’s no denying how important Mitchell is to the Cavaliers. But tonight’s loss should remind fans of what LeBron James learned during his last time with the team.
Like Donovan Mitchell, he can’t and shouldn’t expect to carry this team himself while the other stars are hurt.
Hopefully Garland, Mobley and Hunter will be able to return to the lineup soon. That’s why Mitchell isn’t forced to lift most of the Cavaliers.
