The Detroit Pistons are rising among one of the biggest turnarounds in recent NBA history.
While many teams hope that the draft pick will have an immediate impact, the Detroit Pistons are a lesson in patience.
Finishing with a disastrous 14-68 record in 2023-24, the appointment of coach JB Bickerstaff, along with several wise free agent acquisitions, served as a catalyst for a spectacular recovery.
A few days ago, former number one draft pick Kade Cunningham shot the winner of a dramatic three-point game in the Miami Heat, the 2023 finalist’s ninth consecutive loss.
It was a victory showing a change in security guards, with the Pistons reaching sixth place recently, closing with a 39-31 record matching the 40-29 Pacers.
Udonis Haslem, who set the playoff spot, recently flipped the Detroit Pistons over and defeated the New York Knicks if they met in the first round.
Current Warriors star Draymond Green has even higher ambitions for his team. He believes that Kade Cunningham will deliver the title to the Detroit Pistons.
While retreating away from this year’s forecast, Draymond Green is sure Cunningham will win at least one Detroit title.
Speaking about his podcast, he said:
“He gained talent, he got his attitude. He got the size that many people underestimate. He got the size he actually carries with his team on his shoulder.
“I think Kade is ready to take the next step and ready to take the next step with his team.”
Draymond Green has already vowed to win the Golden State Warriors in the NBA Championship this season.
He claimed at the All-Star Break following the acquisition of Jimmy Butler.
However, he admired Piston and praised Warriors teammate Dennis Schroeder for his recent signature.
Green believes that a full success of the piston will take several steps, but the possibility that the ring will ultimately head to Detroit could potentially head to Detroit more than 20 years after his final title win in 2004.
He said: “I don’t know when that will be. I think they still have tweaks to the roster and different things that need to happen, but over time, Cade Cunningham will bring the championship back to Detroit.”
