The Philadelphia 76ers got off to a 4-0 start to the season and turned heads.
The Philadelphia 76ers are led by Tyrese Maxey and rookie sensation VJ Edgecomb, who is off to a great start to his NBA career.
The 6-foot-5 guard is averaging 22.3 points, 5.8 rebounds, 5.5 assists and 1.5 steals through four games for Edgecombe, which is impressive for a rookie.
It’s only early in the season, but the 20-year-old is already impressing many with his elite skill set.
Edgecombe’s athleticism and explosiveness have been on full display with the 76ers to start the season.
Through the first four games, Edgecomb has proven to have a strong all-around game and is shooting the ball well. The rookie is shooting 47.1 percent from the field and 42.9 percent from three.
Draymond Green is one of the many people impressed with what he saw from Edgecombe.
On his latest podcast, Green said he wanted to showcase Edgecomb’s vertical power in the dunk contest. Green also revealed that he thinks Edgecombe will win Rookie of the Year.
“It’s beautiful to watch, VJ Edgecombe is a natural freak and he’s beating three people.
“Hopefully we see VJ Edgecomb with that verticality at the All-Star Weekend dunk contest.
“Add you young man to the legend. Show the world who you are and add him to the trophy case.
“I think this kid is special. I think he’s definitely going to be Rookie of the Year.”
Edgecombe leads all rookies in scoring heading into the 2025-26 season.
He and Maxey have created an electric backcourt that has put Philadelphia well in the upper echelons of the Eastern Conference.
Edgecomb looks like a star prospect for the 76ers due to his athleticism and high basketball IQ.
Everyone immediately named Cooper Flagg Rookie of the Year, but Edgecombe snatched the title from him with a dominant start to the season.
