Golden State Warriors star Draymond Green highlights an unexpected playoff disadvantage for the Oklahoma City Thunder.
Even in the close-fighting Western Conference of the 2024-25 NBA season, the Oklahoma City Thunder is away from the rest of the pack.
After all, they’re the only team in the West with over 60 wins as they sat at the top of the rankings and won the No. 1 seed well before the end of the season.
Usually no. Achieving a 1 seed is considered an incredible feat as it means you are likely to face lower seeds in the postseason. However, Golden State Warriors star Draymond Green thinks this is a disadvantage to lightning.
The Green Warriors are one of four teams fighting for positions ahead of the final game of the season.
Despite the circumstances, Green believes that the OKC Thunder is the disadvantage in this Giants battle.
“I’ve always felt like 1 and 2 because if you’re one species, you’re literally at the biggest disadvantage. I don’t know who you’re playing until two days before you play them,” Green said.
He added: “Think about knowing the team after Game 4. This is seven days after studying this team. If you’re seeded 3-6, you’re essentially in Game 4 in Game 1 from a scouting perspective.”
Certainly, it’s a unique way to see the number 1 or number 2 seed in a meeting. However, the green was not complete.
Even in the 2025 Play-in Tournament at the Western Conference, we will only showcase two teams below the 40-win mark so far.
With that in mind, this is why the Thunder can meet the dominant team in the first round of the playoffs, rather than the inactive franchise.
“In the West, this year’s eighth species may be real. It could be a team that will give OKC some trouble. It’s a really good team.
“This was laundry, this is going to be a tough series. I think it could be interesting.”
Combining Green’s analysis with the fact that OKC has an inexperienced roster could lead fans to witness early upsets in the 2025 playoffs.
