Things got heated between Draymond Green and coach Jerry Stackhouse between the Golden State Warriors vs. Houston Rockets crash.
The Golden State Warriors were the seventh seed at the Western Conference after an eventful regular season.
They launched their 2025 playoff campaign against the second-seeded Houston Rocket. Despite the low seeds, dubs are considered favorites to advance to the next round.
The Warriors proved their supporters right following a staggering 95-85 victory in Game 1 in the opening round. However, there were moments when many dubs were worried about the team’s chemistry.
In-game intensity varies significantly in the playoffs compared to the regular season. After all, it costs just four losses to waste a year’s achievements.
Sometimes it leads to a heated exchange between players and coaches. Warriors fans witnessed it during their battle with Rocket in Game 1.
During a timeout in the second quarter, Draymond Green was enraged towards the bystanders as he was caught by Warriors assistant coach Jerry Stackhouse.
The two were captured for engagement in a heated chat during the timeout. Many people tried to predict what Stackhouse had said to Green. Well, the 4X NBA champions revealed their speech during the post-game meeting.
Since joining Steve Kerr’s coaching staff in the 2024-25 NBA season, Stackhouse has taken Green’s many tasks to calm him down.
This was no different as Green revealed to him the message of his assistant coach after the victory.
“Stackhouse said, ‘Continue to do what you’re doing. You’re doing a great job. We’re not worried about what’s going on there, so don’t get caught up in it.’ He was great for me,” Green told reporters.
Green has always been a very vocal player, but sometimes his offense cost the Warriors a victory. With that in mind, Stackhouse did an amazing job of calming the veteran forward.
Eventually, Green and the Warriors left with a 10-point victory, helping Rocket take a 1-0 lead.
