Ducati general manager Gigi Dall’igna labeled Alex Marquez as “worthy” by finishing off Marc Marquez’s recent winning run at the MotoGP Catalan Grand Prix.
From the Aragon Grand Prix at the beginning of June to the Hungarian Gallop Rampuri at the end of August, no one except Mark Marquez won the race.
His run over the seven consecutive 37-point weekend that began to follow for Barcelona when he took over the sprint victory after Alex Marquez crashed from the lead.
However, on Sunday, the Gresini rider bouncing off, absorbing a lot of pressure from the championship leaders, earning his second Grand Prix victory in the campaign.
Mark Marquez’s defeat concluded 15 Winstreaks and delayed his first title match point until at least the Japanese Grand Prix.
Dall’igna said Alex Marquez rode “like a champion” at the Catalonian Grand Prix, and praised the 29-year-old in a post-race report.
“In this way, in the most satisfying way, the incredible series of seven consecutive wins/MotoGP one-two of giant Mark Marquez, who won a huge second place in the World Championship Contest, has concluded,” he writes.
“Alex Marquez, who deserved to win Saturday’s race on his best weekend since his best weekend, was interrupted by a highly valued fighter, was a grand prix loot that was controlled and managered like a true champion of his first key victory in his first key victory with a direct challenge to his brother mark.”
Catalonia’s Grand Prix was also the weekend when Ducati won the Constructors Championship for the sixth consecutive time.
Regarding this, Dall’igna added: “The Barcelona weekend had two important results.
“Mark’s victory in the sprint race on Saturday has clinched the constructor’s title again, a recognition we’ve always cherished, and it’s a good portrayal of the work of Ducati’s great teams, extending it to the teams and riders who represent them.
“This is a recognition of our path and depicts what is actually a prominent achievement, something that is never unimaginable until a few years ago.
“There are no words. I’m grateful to everyone.
“And we already have the certainty of winning the Rider Championship World title, because only one of our boys can secure it.”
