Despite completing the treble of MotoGP titles in 2025 and with Marc Márquez currently injured, Ducati are still looking to challenge their single-season Grand Prix wins record.
Fermin Aldeguer’s debut victory in MotoGP last time out at Mandalica gave Ducati 16 GP wins out of 18 races.
Only Johann Zarco’s Honda win at Le Mans and Marco Bezzecchi’s Aprilia win at Silverstone stopped him from winning.
Ducati’s existing record is 19 wins in a season, set last year, and with four races left until the 2025 World Championship, this record is still within reach.
Ducati ‘still favorite to win’ in 2027
Ducati’s dominance is likely to continue until 2026, the final year of the current 1000cc technical regulations.
But speculation continues over how the 2027 “big reset” will shuffle the pack, including the introduction of 850cc engines, a ban on ride height adjusters and Pirelli tires.
Miguel Oliveira, who will leave MotoGP and move to WorldSBK next season, may be involved in the development of new machines as a factory test rider, but he does not expect Ducati to lose much of its advantage.
“No, I don’t think so. This change is not negative for Ducati,” said the Portuguese. He will participate in World SBK 2026 with BMW, but is also in talks to test drive Aprilia.
“I still believe they can gain a slight advantage heading into 2027 because of how well this bike has been put together and the experience they have had over the years and with all their riders.
“So I believe they will continue to be the favorites.
“But removing the ride height adjuster and changing the tires would definitely be a big reset. It would make a big difference,” Oliveira added.
Ducati currently has Marc Marquez, Alex Marquez and Francesco Bagnaia occupying the top three positions in the rider rankings.
Among the rest, Marco Bezzecchi (Aprilia) and Pedro Acosta (KTM) are the best.
Bezzecchi is now within 20 points of Bagnaia, with Acosta a further 39 points behind as he looks to thwart the VR46 cars of Franco Morbidelli and Fabio Di Giannantonio.
Ducati has won the Riders’ and Constructors’ titles for the past four years in a row.
