The 2025 NBA Draft is right around the corner, and everything refers to the Dallas Mavericks gaining generational talent.
The outlook for the issue is nothing more than the Duke Blue Devils Cooper Flag, considered the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft.
It has been decided that the flag will be drafted by the Dallas Mavericks, who hold the top pick in this year’s draft.
Flag is expected to soon become a starting caliber player, but that doesn’t mean the former Dukester is allowing his early success to reach his head.
Mavs is undoubtedly one of the worst seasons in franchise history. From dealing with Luka Doncic to facing consistent injury troubles, Mavs’ fanbase witnessed it all.
However, with the prospect of Flagg’s arrival, fans hope things will improve for the organization. As for the flag, he may be the perfect best player in this year’s draft, but he is humble.
Duke’s current head coach, John Shayer, confirmed that in an interview with ESPN. He also labeled Mavs as “a place of dreams” for 18 years old.
“He’s not going to Dallas thinking he has all the answers. He’s going to learn from Kylie and from (Davis),” Shayer said.
“He’s going to learn from Dereck Lively and Jason Kidd and his staff. He’s coming to learn, and I think that’s a special part about him,” the Duke coach added.
Hunger to get better and learn from an already established NBA star is something that could benefit Flag in the long term.
After all, he’s tasked with potentially leading the Mavericks to another NBA title earlier than they’re late.

The Mavericks are under 50, but are one of the most consistent teams of the 21st century.
The main reason behind this was that Dark Nowicki had a generation of superstars. Donsic was expected to do the same thing. He insists he wants to retire in Dallas, and will only be traded with La Lakers.
Once Flag was drafted by Mavericks, Scheyer made an “lucky” entry for the organization.
“Dallas has been lucky for many years,” Shayer said. “They were able to see Luka’s dark. They’re a lot of winning teams. Now I think you’ll be pushing that tradition forward for Cooper,” Shayer said.
Despite Mavs getting Flag, Top Brass needs to be careful about how they treat future NBA stars. After all, current ownership is already burning the bridge in Nowitzki and Doncic.
So far, Mavericks has made sure to avoid sending the wrong messages to Flagg, and the fanbase hopes Flag will also treat him with respect in the future.
