Dustin Poirier may already have his UFC Swan songs lined up.
After fighting Islamic Makachev last summer, “Diamond” confirmed that he fought one more round before he placed his gloves on. Since then, fans have been whipping little by little to find out who Poirier’s final position is against.
Well, we may now know thanks to lightweight candidate Beneil Dalyusch.
“My understanding is that Dustin Poirier and Max Holloway will fight,” Darysh told Submission Radio. “That’s what I’m hearing. I don’t know if it’s 100% sealed, but that’s what I’m hearing.”
Chael Sonnen supports Dariush’s Dustin Poirier vs. Max Holloway 3 claim
It was Chael Sonnen who added fuel to the fire. In a recent episode of Good Guy/Bad Guy with co-host Daniel Cormier, “American Gang” repeated the rumors of Poilier vs. Holloway 3 in New Orleans this summer. Additionally, Sonnen added that if the fight comes true, it would be for the BMF title.
Holloway and Poirier first met at UFC 143 over a decade ago, with “The Diamond” recording the Triangle Armbar Submission victory over “Blessed” in the first round.
Seven years later, they ran it at UFC 236 for the interim lightweight championship. Poirier once again came to the top, beating Holloway by unanimous decision, calling it one of the best MMA fights of 2019 and relying on per Tapology as the fifth-best lightweight collision in history.
