La Lakers prospect Bronnie James is talking about the NBA Summer League for the second year in a row.
Bronnie James was a star attraction in the Summer League in 2024, and if he wanted a more modest 2025, he wouldn’t have been given this opportunity.
The schedule maker lined up the LA Lakers against the Mavericks, with Bronnie James on the 2025 draft pick Cooper Flag.
James used the game to make a statement about his own defense improvements, limiting the flag to 10 points. This looked even better when the Mavericks star scored 31 in the next game.
Former player Jeff Teague suggests he still lacks confidence in Bronnie James, but Dwyane Wade has argued completely against it, claiming that the 2024 second round pick is beginning to flourish.
Dwyane Wade, former Miami Heat teammate of LeBron James, tells his podcast that he saw Bronnie James’s confidence jump.
And after all the discussion, after LeBron James produced about “having a bag,” Dwyane Wade used the same phrase to discuss what Bronnie James is currently showing.
“Bronie’s cold. I saw the movement. I saw his movement.
“It’s not going to score 30 pointer games in the league, but bro, kids stomp on the hoops. He got it all. His bag is heavy.
Wade says he loves to see how Bronnie James took over the game defensively and has shown determination to contribute to the offense as well.
“I started watching it when he went to the G League, he started dunking at Mother _____ and had those games, but you saw it on your first play in the league in the summer, and that really shows you everything.
“He seemed free and safe. “OK, he’s about to spin.
“Huh, I was, yeah, he’s fine.”
Despite his excitement about Bronnie James and positive comments from fans, Dwyane Wade hasn’t been sold with the Lakers, who found him a specific role in 2025-26.
Wade insists he is not in a hurry and does not want to be forced into a conversation about the role of Bronnie James.
Instead, he believes that the most important thing is for James to continue developing as is, and he believes it will all naturally become this season or the next slot.
He commented:
“I think what Krucci did, what Rich (Paul) did, what his dad did, it’s not rushing through this process.
“And people are already hoping to rush through the Brony’s process and say, ‘Is he going to become a rotation player for the Lakers now?” Brony doesn’t have to be a rotation player for the Lakers now.
“He needs to continue to develop. His play will show you when that step comes, but this year may not be. He still has to develop, but he is developing very quickly right in front of our eyes.
“But stop putting pressure on him that he needs to be a rotation player. No, he needs to take the next step in his development.
Wade is simply pleased to see Bronnie James prove his abilities to himself above everyone else.
He commented:
“I think it’s probably the most beautiful thing about seeing Brony in front of the eyes of the world.”
