Kevin Durant chose the Miami Heat as one of his preferred trading destinations.

Unfortunately for Heat fans, they couldn’t get Durant.

The Miami Heat is always keeping an eye on the next star player. Team President Pat Riley has always found ways to win stars like Shaquille O’Neal, Chris Bosh and Lebron James. With Kevin Durant Chase, the heat would have had another superstar.

It was a great hypothesis to argue, but the heat couldn’t give them the right package and he was traded with the Houston Rocket.

However, Heat legend Dwyane Wade feels that Kevin Durant wasn’t going to Miami anyway. He feels the players and organization don’t fit well.

Wade is friends with Durant, but he didn’t want to go to Miami. The fever chased Durant for a long time, dating back to the mid-2010s. However, Wade opposed the idea, including the latest tracking.

In terms of basketball, Durant is the perfect player to pair with Tyler Hero and Bam Adebayo. He is one of the best players of this generation, but Wade felt that Durant had never been willing to Miami. It’s interesting as Durant chose Miami as one of his pre-trade preferences.

Nonetheless, Wade has asserted that trade is not an issue and he is pleased that it didn’t happen.

“Bron went to Miami. He won’t go to Miami. I said 10 years ago when the heat was trying to get him, UD said this on his show too. He doesn’t follow LeBron,” Wade said on his timeout show.

“Why are we recruiting people who aren’t doing that? I didn’t like it and I don’t like it now. I’m happy he’s in Houston, and that’s not.”

Wade didn’t want Durant to be hot, but he wants to make a move in the front office. The heat struggled during the 2024-25 season and also addressed the story involving Jimmy Butler. It was not the best year for the heat, but if they move, the future looks promising.

The buildings around Hero and Adebayo provide a good foundation for Miami. They are legal stars, but they need to get reinforcements to compete. The Eastern Conference could be easier due to a superstar injury.

“There are a few jobs that need to be done. I don’t want to be like these old guys who can’t be back and celebrated like Dale Davis or Reggie Miller. We have to do this tight,” Wade continued.

They will face some tough competition, like the Atlanta Hawks and Orlando Magic, but the heat can make some noise. However, it doesn’t happen without the team making useful moves. Chasing Durant was a good sign of fever ambitions, but they need to follow up with more moves.
