Dwyane Wade looked back at the disappointment of the Miami Heat in the Dallas Mavericks’ 2011 NBA Finals defeat and denounced the key figures.
One of the biggest turmoils in NBA history took place in the 2011 NBA Finals. The Miami Heat’s newly crafted Big 3 was about to win its first NBA Championship alongside the Dallas Mavericks.
In particular, Dwyane Wade had reason to be confident as he defeated the Mavericks in 2006 to lead the Heat to the championship.
But Wade and LeBron James’ Mavericks’ ock laughs had an impact on Dark Nowicki’s incredible performance as the Mavericks shook the heat and led them to win the NBA championship.
But now, Dwyane Wade reveals his perspective during the series, and he assigns accusations to certain individuals of the losses in that series.
Dwyane Wade spoke on a podcast about the 2011 NBA Finals between the Miami Heat and the Dallas Mavericks. In particular, he talked about the incorrect use of stars like Mike Bibby and Eddie House.
Wade subtly denounced Eric Sporstra and the heat coaching staff for not playing the right way and maximizing the players the right way, but Rick Carlisle relied on his vast experience to get the job done.
“We’re talking about the battle-tested team (Dallas), not just that year the previous year. You’re talking about the heat team that just gathered.
“And I know that’s going to be a controversy about the Big Three. I don’t think we did a good job, and when we say, I’m talking about the whole team that uses and maximizes our role players.
“We had people who might have helped us, but we didn’t use the right way for them. We had some people there. We had Mike Bibby and Eddie House.
“We could have done something for us to that team that could have done a big shot, but we didn’t maximize our bench as they maximized.
“And a lot of that is in the Big 3, a lot of it is in the coaching staff, not our role players, we weren’t prepared at all, but we weren’t ready, not ready.
Regardless of the reasons for the massive upset, there is no denying that the Miami Heat’s losses in the 2011 NBA Finals are a massive stain on their legacy.
Given the talent they were with LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosch (three superstars at the height of their careers), they should have won relatively easily.
Dirk Nowitzki was basically playing around with the Big 3 and gave a lifelong performance towards his only NBA Championship victory.
The Heat eventually got things through and continued to win back-to-back NBA championships over the next few years, but the 2011 NBA Finals proved to be a massive disappointment.
