The San Antonio Spurs have a rich history of success. It is deeply ingrained in their culture.

Their dynasty, where they won several championships, is sure that players like Dylan Harper are the organisations they won.

The 2025 NBA Draft had two distinct picks between the Dallas Mavericks and the San Antonio Spurs.

Everyone knew that Mavs had chosen the Cooper Flag with the #1 pick, and the Spurs had chosen Harper. And both teams smacked the jackpot with prospects because of the potential star level.

Harper knows he will play for the right team for his development. The Spurs’ success history resonated with him, making San Antonio a great place to play.

In the most prominent prospect after Flag, Harper has to live up to his large sums of expectations.

But despite the pressure, Rutgers security guards are ready for the challenge. He knows what comes with the Spurs and wants to be part of the championship-winning core.

With teammates like Rookie of the Year winners Stephon Castle and Victor Wembanyama, the future is bright.

Harper is in the logjam on the backcourt where Castle and Daron Fox are, but at least the team should be good. They have the potential to become a different maker in the Western Conference season of the 2025-26.

Harper is pleased to play for San Antonio for a team with a history led by team president Greg Popovich. Players like Tim Duncan, David Robinson and Tony Parker were part of the team and won the championship.

“I am grateful to be part of this organization, growing up, this has been one of the teams you always want to play for.

“Look at their dynasty and build a building on top of the banner. I want to add a little more,” Harper said at an introductory press conference.

Another reason Harper is happy to play for San Antonio is the overall vibe. This is one of the closest NBA franchises, so everyone interacts with each other.

It’s also a bonus that you have legends like Duncan, Popovich and Manu Ginobili within your organization.

Their mere presence shows that the team remains loyal to everyone, making new players feel comfortable. They feel like a cohesive unit for everyone, from facility staff to past and present players.

“The atmosphere of a family. The loyalty they bring, how everyone connected to the organization 20 years ago.

“I’m working out yesterday. I’m watching Tim Duncan, Greg Popovich and Manu Ginobili at random, not something I can’t see in other organizations,” Harper continued.

If the spurs live up to the hype and the Detroit Pistons continue to progress, Dylan may face his siblings.

Ron Harper Jr. plays for the Pistons and he already hopes they will face off in the NBA Finals. That’s possible, especially as Dylan is a potential candidate who looks like a future star.
