The $40 million biopic documenting the life of Dwayne Johnson’s MMA icon is the subject of some early reviews, and things aren’t very good.
Last year, I wrapped up a photo shoot Smashing Machine“The Rock” is a film that looks like Kerr, a former UFC and Pride FC Fighter, along with Emily Blunt, who is set to portray Kerr’s then-wife, Dawn Staples. The excitement over the film, especially among combat fans, reached an all-time high after showing that the production’s photos seemed completely unrecognised as a former NCAA champion.
However, a recent report from Jordan Ruimy on Worldofreel.com suggests that the film is a disjointed mess and that Oscar Bait Dana White has not suggested.
“A month ago, Benny Safdie is a smashing machine that was screened for a few lucky people,” Ruimy wrote. “I quieted about it, but now it’s been screened again and judging from what I’ve heard, there’s no doubt that people aren’t ready for the kind of movie in the store.
“It’s said that what Safdie concoctions with Smashing Machine are “not explained by tone and style” and “play like most biopics,” Ruimy added. “In other words, the Smashing Machine is “Gonzo filmmaking,” and at least not Oscar’s bait.
“Dwayne Johnson’s performance is in harmony with the odd style of the film,” Ruimy concluded. “It’s as if his performance belongs to another film,” one attendee told me. In other words, the Smashing Machine is not the movie we were expecting.

But all hope may not be lost. According to X user @papayastandards Smashing Machine It was a fun experience concluded with an epic ending montage and particularly brutal battle sequences.
“I saw the Smashing Machine. It’s simply amazing, I loved the way they captured Mark Carr and his struggle. I’m also grateful to see more footage from the Pride 2000 GP, full of interesting characters. The montage at the end was great, and the battle felt particularly cruel.
“The intoxicating height, catastrophic lowness, Mark’s gentle attitude, his interactions with Dawn, Bass and Coleman made me engaged. I remember why I loved MMA.
Perhaps this isn’t a film that takes Johnson from an action star to an Oscar nominee, but to say the least, it sounds like movie fans are having a unique experience. Smashing Machine It will be a hit in theaters in 2025.
