Newcastle United defender Matt Target linked his move away from the club at the end of the season, picking up a season-ending injury.
The 29-year-old has struggled with regular game time at Newcastle this season, and he has linked his moves away from the club over the past few months.
However, Newcastle manager Eddie Howe revealed that the left back picked up another injury. He’s unlikely to play until the end of the season, so it would be interesting to see if he can secure an exit in the summer.
If the injury is serious, the summer exit can prove to be problematic. The Newcastle manager claims that players have hamstring issues, but that’s not serious.
“They say,” Howe through Miller: “I lost Matt Target to a hamstring issue this week. Again, nothing was enough to end his season.”
Matt Targett needs a new start
It will be interesting to see if Newcastle can find clubs that are willing to sign players in the summer. The 29-year-old is not a player that is important to them and needs to move on in search of regular play times.
Targett has previously shown his quality in the Premier League, and it is still unclear where he will end. He hopes to play regularly at this stage of his career, but he needs to overcome the problems of injury. He has sustained injuries in recent seasons.
The player has not been able to make the impact of hope in Newcastle since joining the club in 2022. He also entered the final year of his contract this summer.
