Former Los Angeles Lakers player Patrick Beverly keeps an eye on one of their hopes.
The LA Lakers were one of the first teams to compete in the Summer League this season, with the California Classics beginning on July 6th.
Throughout the two games, one player stands out in particular, and is an exciting prospect call wider.
The 26-year-old Swaider was part of the Lakers’ summer league roster in 2022 and played easily in the NBA.
But it’s been quite a journey since he had short stints in Miami, Detroit and Toronto and is now back with the Lakers again.
Patrick Beverly crosses the road with Cole Swaider in Los Angeles and is excited to see him shocked.
Swider responds to a clip from the Lakers practice, where he was sinking the shot in front of him looking at his teammate Dalton Knecht. Beverly gave him his support.
He wants to see Swaider get the opportunity and believes he will take it if he gets it.
Beverley posted on X: “No, Cole Diff. Cole is an elite shot maker. 🌎 will see it if the chance arises.”
Cole Swider spent plenty of time with the South Bay Lakers to ease the potential routes to the senior group.
Last season he signed a 10-day contract with the Toronto Raptors, playing eight games and averaging 7.4 points in 19 minutes.
He stands out for the Lakers in his first two summer league games. Swider scored 24 points from a 7-10 shooting at the opener against the Warriors.
Swider followed this with 20 points against the fever. In both games, he scored the highest score, surpassing Knecht and teammate Bronnie James.
Another big game awaits, and the Lakers are set to take on the Mavericks and the number one PickCooper Flag soon. This is the perfect game to keep his scoring streak winnings and steal headlines.
