Emma Radukanu and coach Vladamir Pratenik split just 14 days later and worked together in one match, her management confirmed on Wednesday.
Platenik began working with Radkanu based on trials just before BNP Paribas was held at Indian Wells. There, in the second round of England, he lost in the first round of England on his first outing since the stalkers confused the match in Dubai.
However, Pratenik was not in the box when Radukanu competed in the second round of the Miami Open on Wednesday, beating Sayakaishii 6-2, 6-1.
After the match, a representative from her management team IMG said, “Emma and Vlad have parted ways.
“Emma gives maximum respect for Vlad and the work they started, but it wasn’t heading in the right direction. After a solid start today, Emma is focused on everything she can in Miami and will continue to look for the right coach.”
The move means that Radukanu is looking for an eighth coach within four years, and I’ve seen Nick Cavade, who worked with her for a year after the Australian opening in January for health reasons.
Pratenik, who previously worked with top 10 players Dahlia Kasatkina and Dominican Chibrukova, was under coach Raducanu at least until the opening of France at the end of May.
His absence seemed particularly unfeasible on Wednesday when Radukanu slammed Ishii and set a clash with Emma Navarro, the world’s No. 10.
“It’s going to be a very challenging match,” Radkanu said in an on-court interview. “She is probably in a better shape, so I can go out and express myself and try to compete for every point.”
