Emmett Sheehan missed out on the Los Angeles ‘ World Series Championship 2024 season after undergoing Tommy John’s surgery last May.
The right-handed starting pitcher has recently taken a major step into his recovery process. Sheehan began to face live hitters in Thursday’s sessions, throwing 40 pitches on each Bill Plunket in the Orange County Register.
Sheehan is reportedly a few weeks away from her rehabilitation assignment.

Los Angeles initially selected Sheehan as the 192nd overall pick in the sixth round of the 2021 MLB Draft. Boston College products went swiftly through the farm system and made their MLB debut against the San Francisco Giants on June 16, 2023.
However, the 25-year-old hasn’t pitched in the MLB game since his 2023 rookie season. He made 11 starts and 13 appearances, earning a 4.92 ERA and 64 strikeouts in 60.1 innings.
Sheehan made one postseason appearance that year, pitching 3.2 innings in the ‘ 11-2 loss in Game 1 of the 2023 National League Division Series.
After his rookie season, the placed Sheehan on their 60-day injury list ahead of the 2024 season.
Tommy John’s recovery process is a long way to go, but Sheehan hasn’t beenarable for it. In addition to Sheehan, right-handed pitchers, Kawa Ryan and Kyle Hart, have also recovered from Tommy John’s surgery.
Following Sheehan’s procedure in May, Hart had surgery in July and Ryan in August. Hart and Ryan were both thrown onto the mound, but have not completed the bullpen session.
