The Wolves are pushing to avoid relegation from the Premier League this season, but a major change will be needed for Vitor Pereira’s team ahead of the 2025-26 campaign.
Not only Cunha, but Rayan Ait-Nouri and Joao Gomes are also linked to moves towards other Premier League clubs. And if they leave, they’ll need a full-scale rebuild with Molineux.
But the wolf bosses hope that is not the case, and at this stage they are not planning on the departure of their biggest star. However, they are expected to deal with a very important position in the summer.
Sam Johnston is about to leave the wolf this summer
As reported in The Telegraph (via FootballFancast), the wolves are prioritizing signing new goalkeepers. This is because Sam Johnston has made it clear to club officials that he wants to leave at the end of the season.
Johnston, who has been unable to take Josesa as the wolf’s first-choice goalkeeper since moving out of Crystal Palace last summer, wants to be a starter, and that doesn’t seem to be happening in Molynu. So he has expressed his intention to leave, and it appears that club officials have accepted it.
It’s safe to say that Johnstone was a flop signature for the wolves. He was brought in for £10 million last summer when many people moved on, but that didn’t happen, so he was forced to sit on the bench for most of the season. And they may have a hard time collecting the funds paid in August last year. This is not ideal given that you want to raise as much money as possible for a new signature.
