Centre Atkinson and Wing Muir make their England debuts as manager Steve Boeswick selected two captains for the test against Argentina at La Plata on Saturday, including Centurion George Ford.
The UK doesn’t have a few regulars on tour with the British and Ireland Lions, but that gives Borthwick the opportunity to create a “test match animal” when he places it on weekdays, including Atkinson.
Borthwick had special admiration for every action center he says he defeated “all the GPS records we have” in training at his high work rate.
Flyhafford, who wins the 100th cap in the UK, is co-captaining with hooker Jamie George.
“George (Ford) has been an outstanding player for over a decade. To reach 100 caps is an incredible achievement, and he speaks volumes about both the experts and people. I’m extremely proud to share this moment with him,” Bosewick said.
Scrum half Ben Spencer partners Ford in a half-back pairing, and Atkinson plays alongside Henry Slade in the middle. The back trio consists of Wingsmuir and Tom Roebuck and Fullback Freddise Tuward.
George packs both sides of Finn Baxter and Joe Hayes in the front row, with Charlie Ewells and Alex Coles in the lock pairing.
In the back row of the scrum are Tom Willis, No. 8, and flankers Ben Curry and Sam Underhill.
Backlow forward Guy Pepper managed to get his first cap off the bench.
“They (Argentina) who beat the British and Irish Lions in Dublin, have come as favorites to the series. They know that with Julian Montoya leading it will be a big challenge,” Bosewick said.
England have never lost a Test series to Argentina despite having toured the country several times with teams that have been exhausted during the Lions season.
