Anthony Edwards is underperforming as the Minnesota Timberwolves lost Game 1 to the Golden State Warriors.
The Timberwolves defeated the Los Angeles Lakers in “Gentleman Sweep” last week, but the Warriors just beat the Houston Rockets in seven games.
Additionally, Stephen Curry left the match in the second quarter with a hamstring injury. So there were two clear reasons for the home team.
However, Edwards and Co were unable to get the job done at the Target Center, and the denunciation Lion’s share fell to the feet of the superstar.
Edwards scored 23 points from 22 shots in an inefficient Game 1 performance against the Warriors, who played a key role in his team’s defeat.
Especially if Curry misses the next few games, Edwards is expected to lead the Timberwolves to a series victory.
But ESPN expert Michael Wilbon makes an interesting comparison with well-known playoff fighter James Harden, as the 23-year-old isn’t entirely certain he can do that at this point.
“The really great players from all sports, especially the NBA… the postseason is where you do great things over and over again,” Wilbon explained.
“That’s why we’re talking about Steph Curry. So, last night, Steph was pulled out and I was depressed. From mid-April to mid-June, it’s time for you to do that.
All year round I kept thinking two things, but I think they still have the game, tenacity, experience from last year and if they could be together they have the chance to challenge Oklahoma City. But after last night you start to wonder.
“Now I’m hoping Minnesota will win two or three games in a row. They can reach 3-1. The question (the Warriors) can get Steph back, then let’s see what happens when Anthony Edwards is a really great time later in the series.
“What will James Harden do? He’s as great as James Harden, in games 5, 6, and 7, he didn’t get it.

Wilbon didn’t say Edwards finds the playoffs as difficult as Harden, but mere mentions of the Los Angeles Clippers star seem totally unfair.
Of course, Edwards needs to do more to be considered the best of all time like Curry in this postseason and future, but he has been very impressive so far.
GP | PTS | FG% | 3p% | Reb | AST | |
Anthony Edwards | 33 | 27.5 | 46.5 | 37.7 | 6.6 | 5.5 |
James Harden | 173 | 22.5 | 42.5 | 34.0 | 5.5 | 6.6 |
Despite some poor games here and there, Timberwolves Guard averaged 27.5 points per game with solid efficiency in his previous 33 playoff appearances.
In comparison, Harden, who has scored more than 30 per game in three consecutive regular seasons, is 22.5 in his postseason career.
