Atletico Madrid is reportedly ready to make an offer to Manchester United defensive midfielder Manuel Ugarte in January.
Uruguay International has struggled during his time at Old Trafford so far, but it makes sense that his future is now questionable.
According to a report by BBC Sport at the time, considering Man Utd paid a big fee to Ugarte (which could be over £50 million), they would be expecting more from him.
The deal appears to have been a mistake for the Red Devils as Ugarte also struggled to impress former club Paris Saint-Germain.
According to Fichajes, Atletico is ready to try to sign him on his first loan this winter, and the deal could be permanent at around 30 million euros.
Manuel Ugarte may be suitable for Atletico Madrid
Ugarte looks like the perfect person to see Diego Simeone play his team, even though his style means he’s struggling with United and PSG.
The 24-year-old has a tough tackle style and excellent work rate, but he lacks that quality in his pass to influence at a very high level.
Atletico is a bit more defensive aspect, so it could have a role for Ugarte.
Fichejes also suggests that interest from Madrid is questioning Conor Gallagher’s future.
Man United selling Ugarte after shifting other flops?
United managed to keep cleaning up the unnecessary players after doing well to get some of them out the doors over the summer.
Marcus Rashford, Antony, Jadon Sancho, Rasmos Hozilund and Alejandro Garnacho all left the club.
MUFC fans will be disappointed that this deal didn’t work, but it’s ideal to help push signatures like Adam Wharton and Elliot Anderson (where TeamTalk links it to) as alternatives.
