Glasgow Rangers head coach Russell Martin revealed that Hamza Igamane, the Scottish Prime Minister on Sunday, could not come as a replacement for St. Mirren.
The Light Blues were held in a 1-1 draw from Ibrox and needed a goal from alternative Findlay Curtis, and they were unable to call Morocco International from the bench.
After the match, Martin said: “I bid for Hamza this week. I refused. I was fine yesterday. I’m fine on Saturday (Saturday).
With just under a week left before the end of the summer transfer period, it will be interesting to see what the future of the Moroccan frontman has.
Euroclub approaches Rangers strikers
Martin has already confirmed that Igamane’s offer has been rejected, but there is no specific interest from the European club on one of the other forwards.
According to L’Arena, as broadcast by Calcio Hellas, Serie A Side Hellas Verona approached the Rangers about a deal to sign Cyriel Dessers before the end of the window.
The report argues that Italian outfits are looking for loans while they hope for a permanent exit from Nigeria International, but can make compromises with loans that lead to obligations to buy next summer.
He adds that the experienced forward will cost around £3.4 million, but it remains to be seen whether Hellas Verona will proceed with the trade with that valuation.
Why Rangers Need to Get Cash on Siriel Desser
It is not accurate how these situations work, but rangers should earn cash at Deserz, which is in front of Igamane, if possible.
If GERS can win the Morocco International, which is on board with Martin’s project, the Rangers could have an emotional striker who could become a real difference maker in the final third.
Meanwhile, Deserz was the first choice striker for two seasons at Ibrox, which was hot and cold. Former Aberdeen Chief Keith Wynes went to describe him as “marmite”, “invisible”, and “irritating.”
The Nigerian forward scored 34 goals in the Rangers’ Scottish Premiership in just two years with the club, but the underlying number suggests that Igamane could offer more to the team as the main number nine.

As you can see in the table above, Igamane became more efficient with the “big opportunity” that came in his way, but he was more creative, more effective in duels, and offered more as a ball carrier.
These statistics suggest that the Moroccan star, who occasionally played the left wing, can offer more to the team as a clinical goalscorer and as a creative threat as the main number 9th than Ibrox’s Deserz.
This means that the move to Hellas Verona for the former Cremonese Marksman could open the door for Igamane to become the main man before the Ranger, providing a platform for showing off his talent and attracting more interest in future transfer windows.
Martin was able to hang a carrot that is the main man of Light Blues this season, making that point for the striker and despite interest from elsewhere in the current window, in order to try and keep him at Ibrox this season.
So in an ideal world, Rangers were able to win Deserz and seduce Igamane to commit to the team as the main man. But life isn’t always simple, and there is a world where the blue of light loses both of them over the next six days, which is far from ideal.
