Virginia Water, UK – The European star who will be competing in the upcoming Ryder Cup is being performed at the highly-catched BMW PGA Championship by a player who will become one of the team’s vice captains.
Swedish Alex Noren, who will become one of the five assistants of Luke Donald at Bethpage Black, rolled into a 17-foot putt on the 18th, completing a birdie by Dee Eagle finish and joined Adrien Saddier to take a three-round lead in the flagship event on the European Tour.
The Frenchman Sadia ranked 120th and birded three of his last four holes.
At 15 under 201, they were two strokes from Tyrrell Hutton, who shot 64 and began building up the September 26-28 match, replacing the best of the 11 Rider Cup players taking part in Wentworth this week. The further back stroke was another Victor Hofland after his 71 left him in fourth place.
Of the other Ryder Cup players, LudvigÅberg (73) and Matt Fitzpatrick (69) finished sixth at 10 under.
Rory McIlroy came in 53rd with a 5-under 5 after filming the 70.
Recent FedEx Cup winner Tommy Fleetwood shot 71 and was 3 under in the tournament.
Matsuyama Hideki and Justin Rose were tied to first and second place after 36 holes each, but were dropped out of the contest after shooting 76 in the joint round on Saturday.
In-Form Noren knows how to win at Wentworth and finishes the season strong, shooting the final round of 62 to win the title eight years ago. Two weeks ago he won the British Masters in his 11th European Tour victory – and first in seven years – and he was tied to third place in the Wyndham Championship in early August.
His impressive recent form wasn’t enough to score a Ryder Cup captain’s pick, but he might be trying to beat many stars who share Beth Page’s European team room.
“It’s going to be a lot of fun,” Noren said. I was looking forward to the final round. “i love this.”
As for Saddier, he led after the three-round Ireland opening, but closed at 74 to tie it in fifth. He returned on shots in his second title in 2025 after the Italian Open in June – and the biggest win of his career.
“I think it’s going to be another day in the office,” Sadia said. “Focus on yourself and my game. Try to hit a lot of fairways and greens. I’ll see if the putt falls tomorrow.”
