A busy summer awaits for everyone involved in Everton.
As reported by The Athletic’s Rob Tanner, Toffees currently has 10 senior team players off their contracts. This is more than any other Premier League club, and Abdoulaye Doucouré has gotten one of many well-known players.
So, after having their final match at Goodison last Sunday, before moving on to a new ground at Bramley More Dock, David Moe and his staff have a lot to do to prepare for a big announcement in August, but can they beat the competition to land one of the league’s hottest prospects?
Search for Everton’s new striker
According to a report by Fabrizio Romano, Everton’s manager, Moe, has already held a face-to-face meeting with Ipswichtown striker Liam Dellup, where he “submitted the project.”
Reporters argue that Toffee is ready to offer “significant” salaries to convince England U21 International to move to Merseyside, amid interest from Chelsea and Manchester United.
Ipswich Town Manager Kieran McKenna also confirmed at a press conference that “Liam is looking at his options,” saying the club “gives permission to do that this week,” adding “of course there’s a lot of interest — and it seems right.”
Following the relegation of the Tractor Boys, Dellup’s deal has been widely reported to include a £30 million release clause, including Jacob Steinberg, Nick Ames and Guardian’s Jamie Jackson, among those said Manchester United and Chelsea are interested.
But can the 22-year-old be convinced to move to Merseyside instead?
How Liam Dellup improves Everton
As mentioned before, Everton has acquired many players from his contract in the summer. One of them is Dominic Calver Truwin.
Well, according to a report by Pete O’Rourke of Football Insider, there has been no “final decision” yet.
Whether he chose to stay in Merseyside or not, it is undeniable that, as outlined in the table below, Calvert Lewin’s importance to Everton has declined significantly in recent seasons.

As the table highlights, Calvert Lewin scored more goals during the 2020/21 season than he combined the following four campaigns, due to partially missing the fact that he missed 69 games due to various injuries during this time frame.
Nine years after his first arrival at the club, with a reported fee of £1.5 million from Sheffield United, the 28-year-old is no longer a significant figure for Toffee.
So let’s assess how his statistics compare to Delap’s this season.

As the table outlines, Delap represents a clear and massive upgrade of Calvert-Lewin, registering more impressive statistics.
The most notable stat is the goal – XG, Delap’s +2.3 figure means he is ranked 20th in the Premier League on this metric.
Before the meeting in December, Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca, who worked with him at Man City’s youth level, described Dellup as a “fantastic player” and a “very good striker.”
Meanwhile, line-breaking Pranav Parameshwaran claimed he could become “the future striker of England,” and was impressed by his “ability to occupy the defenders and the general “all-around game.”
So what’s clear is that Dellup could be one of the best centre forwards in the Premier League, so if Everton can convince him to sign them, it represents a major coup.
