Czech fashion icon and MMA fighter Andrej Karasnik sat down with low-kick MMA’s Tim Wheaton to discuss his unique style and sport fusion, his approach to weight cuts, and his highly anticipated fight with Matekertes at the Octagon 70 on April 26th.

Andreji Kalashnik, known for his bold fashion statement, shared the story behind some of his most memorable looks. He described his style as “Eastern European techno,” inspired by a mix of rave reviews and old-fashioned influences. For Kalašnik, fashion is more than a hobby, his profession and passion, and combat plays a secondary role. He humorously acknowledged the challenge of being a sex symbol in the Czech Republic and joked about the pressure to maintain his image.

Andreji Kalashnik also recalled his trip to Japan to watch his friend and sparring partner Ziji Prochikaska compete in Lysin. As a childhood fan of Pride FC, he described the experience as a dream come true, recalling the sights and excitement of the Japanese MMA event. He shared anecdotes about encountering legends like Wanderlei Silva, Fedor Emelianenko, Bob Sapp, and noted the greater persona and familiarity outside the ring.

Turning to the upcoming battle, Karashnik expressed his excitement at facing Mate Kertez, highlighting that both fighters have been in the top ten of the Octagon since 2018 and are considered promotional veterans. Kalašnik said that matchups are ideal and, both in terms of style and career trajectory, “I wanted this fight so badly. It was this fight I wanted two years ago, so my dream came true, but now I need to prove that I’m better than Mathe.”
