Arsenal and PSG were frustrated, but the tie wasn’t finished yet

For Arsenal against PSG, it was a truly frustrating night.

Considering what happened against Real Madrid, there was so much excitement, anticipation and expectations before the game, but things all went a little flat.

I know there was a lot of talk about the atmosphere, but the stadium was definitely bouncing back before kickoff.

However, the early goal seemed to destroy the bubble. It sucked life from that place and things really never happened again.

The PSG was excellent in its opening 30 minutes. The goal clearly gave them a real boost early on, and they gave Arsenal the toughest tests given by any team this season.

To be fair to Arsenal, I thought they’d then returned to the game, so that was pretty much after that point.

They could have easily leveled themselves, but Gianluigi Donnarumma pulled apart two great saves to deny them. The ones from Leandro Trossard in the second half were absolutely fantastic.

But on the other end, things could have been worse for Arsenal as PSG may have expanded their lead with a late opportunity for Bradley Barcola and Goncaro Ramos.

In fact, they are still in that tie, which is what they have to stick to the right. They have a very difficult job in Paris next week, but if they can go to the Bernabeu and win, they can go to the Parc des Princess and do the same.

They make Thomas Party available and that’s really important.

His absence was huge last night. I thought Declan Rice worked well in the retention role, but Arsenal missed the Energy and Box Crush Run.

You saw how PSG struggled to deal with him when he moved forward to set up a Trosad opportunity, but unfortunately he couldn’t do it enough as he had to stay deeper than usual.

So, looking at how Arsenal can change things next week, I think it’s crucial to return part and return to Rice’s eight roles left. Mikel Merino could then return to the role of striker. This gives Arsenal a little more physical presence around the penalty area.

It’s going to be difficult for Arsenal now. There is no doubt about that.

You really felt they needed something to take something with them for the second leg. The Carabao Cup semi-final final was a similar story when he lost to Newcastle at home in the first game.

It’s hard to see them doing it this time in Paris, as they couldn’t turn things around on the occasion.

But they have a chance. It’s not finished. But as Mikel Arteta said afterwards, in order to advance to the finals, they will have to do something very special in the French capital.

Arsenal should have been on the move of Khvicha Kvaratskhelia

Khvicha Kvaratskhelia is a special player.

There aren’t many attackers who can make Julientimber look uncomfortable, but Kuvaratzkeria certainly did that in the 30-minute opening with the Emirates.

It’s hard to see the performances he’s done since moving to Paris. He doesn’t think about what would have happened for Arsenal if he pushed to land the winger when it became available in Naples.

I said that Arsenal was supposed to be everywhere he was at the time and nothing changed my mind about it.

But to be fair to Arsenal, I think PSG had done so much work behind the scenes at Kvaratskhelia. It was a question of when, not when, rather than when, instead of when.

And it certainly proves to be a great business for them.

I love seeing him. The way he plays, the way he loves to run at fullback. He’s just the right winger and the player who steps in your foot every time he gets the ball.

He would have been a great addition to the Premier League and I know that Liverpool is said to be keen to land him.

But PSG quickly moved behind the scenes to make sure they were in front of the line, so it’s not surprising that the club here didn’t really push him against him. I think they knew well that he was going to Paris.

Kenan Ildis is linked to Arsenal, but this is the person I will sign instead…

Arsenal is linked with some wingers in front of the summer window, and Kenan Ildis is one of the latest names to play rounds.

I’m not something I’ve never heard of myself, so I can’t see if there’s a real interest in it, but I’d be surprised that he’s one of my priorities.

Nico Williams was Mikel Arteta’s first choice, what I would say. He was last summer, but this time I think he will be there again.

We need to wait if he will be open to leave with Bilbao. He says last year athletic boss Ernesto Valverde is already on record and hopes Williams will do the same this summer.

Personally, my pick is Ebekieze. I think he’s perfect for Arsenal and what they need.

He was able to play wide and he was able to play more centrally and provide more creative sparks in those fields. He loves shots from afar. This means Arsenal needs to do more.

Last week we saw Eze destroy Aston Villa in the FA Cup semi-finals, and we could imagine him doing the same thing in an Arsenal shirt.

I really hope that’s what Arsenal is seeing when the windows open.

Arsenal certainly won’t sign another Chelsea flop

I know Christopher Nukank has been linked to Arsenal recently, but I haven’t seen it happen.

I don’t know if the Arsenal fan base can be honest with the club signing another player from Chelsea.

He’s a good player and probably not playing well enough to show all his qualities at Chelsea, but I don’t think he’s an attacker who needs to take Arsenal to the next level.

The last thing they need is to bring in another disillusioned Chelsea player who struggled with form and confidence. Raheem Sterling must be the end of that type of signature.

Therefore, this forwarding link is not something I go anywhere.
