Arsenal midfielder Thomas Parte faces an uncertain future as he approaches the end of his contract at Emirates Stadium.
Gunner also has Giorguinho, who is approaching free agency this summer, which could be a bit worrying for Mikel Arteta next season.
Still, the future of the part may not be completely resolved yet. Charles Watts explains that Ghana International camp feels he is likely to make a new deal.
Written in his exclusive catch-offside column, Watts provided the latest updates on Partey’s future based on what he heard from people close to the players.
Thomas Party’s transfer situation seems to have changed since last week.
Watts feels that just a week ago it’s likely that the party is on its way out of Arsenal this summer, but that’s not necessarily the case anymore.
The 31-year-old is slightly concerned about a record of injuries during his time in North London, which may be a concern as he approaches his 32nd birthday.
Still, it’s also worth saying that Partey’s recent form is great, and he makes it a little better that he suits the term.
With that in mind, it probably makes sense that Partey’s future is still open.
“This time, last week, I would have said that Thomas Party was almost certain to leave Arsenal in the summer,” Watts said.
“I think that’s still the most likely scenario, but it is said that there is a sense within part camp that the club will begin discussing a potential extension of the midfielder.
“Part is out of contract in the summer and so far there has been no formal discussion on the new deal. His representative has been in London recently to watch a Real Madrid match, but the visit did not include discussions with the club about his future.
“So we have to see what will happen over the next few weeks with regard to Ghana International.
“He knows he is happy and settled in London with his family and will be open to staying with a new two-year contract that is understood to be viewed by him and his representatives as acceptable.
“But I could understand why Arsenal is reluctant to extend his party’s stay. His injury record is not very impressive in his time in North London.
“But his availability was good this season. He’ll point out and we can argue that he’s better than he’s ever had with an Arsenal shirt.
“But when a lecture is given, we see that both sides are somehow separate in terms of the starting point of these discussions.
“This could be the last big deal in the part, and he’s got a lot of interest in him from top European clubs and Saudi Arabia, so he’ll want to get the best deal possible.
“But you’d think Arsenal is aiming to reduce his wages due to his age and record of his past injuries, so consultations are not easy.
“Even if Zvimendi arrives, allowing both Party and Gorginho to leave in the same summer would be a bit of a risk for Arsenal.”
