Arsenal has been warned against creating another Raheemsterling-esque sign with Chelsea’s Christopher Nukank.
Gunners have been linked to the blues’ misfit recently, but Charles Watts is worried that it will be a bad move for the club.
Write exclusively for him Catch off side Column, Watts urged Arsenal not to sign nkunku as he felt he couldn’t make another deal similar to Sterling’s, which his fanbase had done badly.
Sterling joined Arsenal on loan from Chelsea last summer, but he was really poor in his short time at Emirates Stadium.
Similarly, Nkunku looks like another unconvincing player that Chelsea doesn’t really want. So it’s not the name that takes Mikel Arteta’s side to the next level.
Arsenal warned against Christopher Nukank’s transfer
Watts says Nkunku is a good player, but he can’t see this deal happening after just how badly the Sterling loans have been for Arsenal.
Watts said of the rumours we’ve seen recently about nkunku and Arsenal:
“I don’t know if the Arsenal fan base will allow the club to honestly sign another player at Chelsea.
“He’s a good player and probably isn’t playing well enough to show all his qualities at Chelsea, but I don’t think he’s an attacker who needs to take Arsenal to the next level.”
The last thing Arsenal needs is another Raheem Sterling
Watts added: “The last thing they need is bring in another disillusioned Chelsea player who struggled with form and confidence, and Raheem Sterling must be the last of that type of signature.
“Therefore, this forwarding link doesn’t go anywhere.”
It makes sense that after a disappointing season there could be a bit of a fire in Chelsea this summer, but that inevitably means hearing a lot of speculation about the flop that doesn’t attract as much attention as the report suggests.
