Arsenal doesn’t have to be afraid of PSG
The Champions League semi-finals against PSG are looming heavily for Arsenal. Honestly, it’s almost impossible to think about anything else.
The PSG is clearly in great form, but what’s good for Arsenal is that they don’t need anyone to fear now. Why are they?
They just beat Real Madrid. They took on 15 winners and hit them comprehensively over 180 minutes.
They went to the Bernabeu. There, it seemed everyone in the Real Madrid Lemontadas were hoping they would roll.
If you can do that against Madrid, why worry about others?
That’s not to say this isn’t an incredibly tough semi-final. Of course, that’s true. PSG is currently a better side than Madrid.
They are full of confidence and are already knocking out two Premier League teams on their way to Final 4, including champion Electric Riverpool.
So Arsenal has to be at their best to beat them.
Mikel Arteta’s side has memories of a comfortable 2-0 victory against Paris at the beginning of the season, so it should stand for them in a good place.
PSG is a very different team from the team that was brushed to the sides very easily in October with the Emirates, but the way Arsenal physically dominated that night was very comprehensive.
However, Ousmane Dembele had not played in that game, but the French champions have since added Khvicha Kvaratskhelia. Both of these players will be such a threat to Arsenal.
They’re two that really bother me, but Arsenal is very good defensively. If William Saliba and Julientimber can keep quiet, then Mikel Arteta’s side is very likely to have a second leg advantage over France.
Arsenal still hopes for Martin Zubimendi to move
As far as I know, Arsenal still hopes to win the race this summer to sign Martin Zubimendi.
We know reports from Spain have bolstered attempts to land the midfielder in recent weeks, suggesting that his head may have been turned.
Nothing can be confirmed as to Madrid’s level of interest in Zubimendi. I don’t know about that. But we know that Arsenal expects to get a deal over the real Sociedad Star line.
They made a lot of effort to sign the Spanish. Jason Eight was the club’s interim sports director before appointing Andrea Berta at the forefront of the job.
And now Berta is at the club and he is tasked with signing a contract for Spain International, and we hope that Arsenal will try to get it done early in the transfer window.
Zubimendi has been considered an Arsenal priority this summer, and it’s not clear as Jorginho has certainly left and Thomas Partey’s future is heading towards the end of the contract.
Thomas Party’s exit can be a risk – can Arsenal still offer him a new deal?
This time, he would have said last week that Thomas Party was almost certain to leave Arsenal in the summer.
I still think that’s the most likely scenario, but I’m told I feel that within part camp the club is starting to discuss potential extensions of the midfielder.
Partey was out of contract in the summer and so far there have been no formal discussions regarding the new deal. His representative was in London recently and saw a Real Madrid match, but the visit did not include discussions with the club about his future.
So we have to see what will happen in the coming weeks regarding Ghana International.
I know he is happy and settled in London with his family and he will be open to staying with a new two-year contract, which is understood to be viewed by him and his representatives as acceptable.
However, I was able to understand why Arsenal is reluctant to extend his part-time stay.
However, his availability was good this season. He can point it out and claim that he is playing more than ever in the Arsenal shirt.
However, when a lecture is given, we can see that both sides are somehow separated in terms of the starting point of these discussions.
This could be Partey’s last big deal, and he’s keen to get as good a deal as possible, as he has a strong interest in him from top European clubs and Saudi Arabia.
However, consultations are not easy as I think Arsenal is considering reducing his wages due to his age and past injury records.
Even if Zubimendi arrives, allowing both the party and the Gorginho to leave in the same summer is a bit risky for Arsenal.
But I think they can handle it without adding more. Declan Rice stops by occasionally and you can play No. 6 and Myles Lewis-Skelly as well as optional.
I would be very surprised if they went outside and spent a lot of time on two central midfielders in the job where they had to bolster their attacks with the windows they came.
Jack Wilshire was very thoughtful at Arsenal – hopefully he’ll come back someday
I don’t know what I’ve ever felt, like when I saw the news that both Jack Willshea and Aaron Ramsey were placed in temporary responsibilities for Norwich and Cardiff City, playing against them the final weekend of the championship season.
I can’t imagine their club seriously considering top jobs forever, but I think you’ll never know, especially in Wilshire.
He is only 33 years old, but he has had a lot of experience behind him after his time with Arsenal and he has always been very well thought out there.
Before he moved to Norwich, I was able to interview him several times and he was always a very impressive guy. Coaching really gave him that fire to his belly.
He was very respected at Arsenal and didn’t want to lose him when they did. However, at the club, when Norwich called, they accepted that they were unable to get in his way.
I think everyone hopes that he will return to Arsenal one day. Obviously he’s far from it now, but perhaps this new interim role is the first step in that journey.
Good luck to both.
