German international Jonathan Ta has chosen to sign Bayern Munich. I caught an offside sauce.
The 29-year-old centre-back has agreed to a four-year deal with the Bayern giants, and he is expected to complete a move from Bayer Leverkusen after passing medical care.
Tar’s decision to stay in the Bundesliga is a surprise to many, especially given the size of the interest he received from overseas.
Liverpool and Man United were rejected
Premier League clubs Liverpool, Manchester United, Newcastle United and Aston Villa all made strong enquiries, but Italian heavyweight Intermilan and AC Milan also sought a contract.
Even Barcelona and Real Madrid tracked his situation, but Tar ultimately rejected all foreign offers in support of staying in Germany.
What makes his decision even more interesting is that at least one unnamed Premier League side was willing to match Bayern’s offer both financially and on the length of the contract.
However, Tar, who played for Leverkusen 49 times this season, remained stubbornly attached to his belief that Bayern Munich was the right step in his career.
Sources close to the players said Bayern’s long-term vision, coupled with domestic domination and regular presence in the Champions League, was a major factor that shaking Taha’s decision.
The defender is said to be eager to continue competing at the highest level, and Bayern sees him as the best environment for promoting his career and chasing great honors.
Jonathan Ta wanted to stay in Germany.
Tah was a consistent performer for Leverkusen and was a key part of the side that won the Bundesliga title in 2023-24.
His leadership, air ability and calmness in the ball made him one of the most reliable defenders in German football.
With this move, Tar is now on a long list of top talent in the country representing the Vandesliga giants.
In addition to TAH, Florian Wurtz is also set to leave the German giant with his move to Liverpool approaching.
Teammate Jeremy Frimpong is another player heading to Anfield this summer.
