Aston Villa is being tilted to sell goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez if it receives an offer in the £100 million region this summer.
The Argentine shot stopper was the top performer on the side of UNAI Emery this season, even if there were also one or two indications of dips in form this season.
It may not be such a bad time for the villa to cash in to Martinez. The club’s former scout Brian King appears to think that if the money is right, a deal could occur.
AVFC certainly hopes to let go of the big money along with key players that it’s not easy to trade with key players like Martinez.
Speaking to Aston Villa News, King revealed that he felt it would cost £100 million to praise the former Arsenal shotstopper away from the villa.
Emiliano Martinez to leave Aston Villa?
“Martinez still has four years left on the contract,” King said.
“Therefore, if he goes to Saudi Arabia, he needs to offer at least £100 million. He has four years of deal left, and it wasn’t long ago that he signed a new contract.
“I had to retire at 32, but if I hadn’t had a bad injury I would have played until I was 40. If Villa received an offer of £100 million, they would consider it, but refuse it.
Aston Villa has done well to sell Saudi-related stars
Villas aren’t necessarily keen to continue selling well-known players, but they’ve been doing very well from the Saudi Arabian market recently.
Jhon Duran and Moussa Diaby both produced very healthy profits for Villa after moving to the Saudi Arabian Pro League.
Martinez could be something else, but I imagine him as someone who pushes the club more harder to hold on.
