Arsenal expert Charles Watts confirmed that Chelsea appears to have a strong interest in signing gunner Wonderkid Ethan Nuwaneri this summer.
Speaking exclusively Catch off side For his latest column, Watts revealed that Nuwaneri has signed a new contract to extend his stay at Emirates Stadium.
However, Chelsea has been interested in the past and has been there again this year, but there was no particular chance that Nuwaneri would take this opportunity to move to Stamford Bridge.
England Under 21 International also appears to have no requests for playing time when discussing a new deal with Arsenal.
Charles Watts reveals the truth about Ethan Nuwaneri’s interest and playing time guarantee
Discussing Nwaneri Saga and destroying some of the myths about it, Watts states:
“The imminent arrival of Viktor Gyokeres has grabbed headlines, but it is equally important that Nwaneri, in my opinion, commits his long-term future to the club.
“Arsenal has always been very calm about Nuwaneri’s situation, but it was an issue that needed to be resolved as there was only one year left in his old deal.
“Chelsea was just as interested as before Nuwaneri signed his first professional contract with the club in March 2024.
“At the time, it really looked like Nuwaneri was leaving. In fact, there were a lot of people at Arsenal who believed his decision was made and he was going.
“However, he chose to stay and reject both Chelsea and Manchester City advancements.
“Things haven’t come that close this time. There may have been a strong interest, but Nuwaneri’s preference is always to stay at Arsenal, and the club was sure he would always stay.
“There have been some suggestions that he would request over his playing time, but that has been deficiently denied. That wasn’t.”
Arsenal fans will be happy to settle this saga. Because it was hard to imagine them losing someone who seemed like the talent of a generation of Chelsea.
