England International is also a target for Arsenal this summer, and Watts explains why the deal hasn’t accelerated so far.
Written in his exclusive latest edition Catch off side Column, Watts explained that Arsenal’s profits never go away, but it could be something that they’ll have to wait until the second half of the summer.
Eze, who travels to Arsenal, may also rely on players’ sales, but it appears not to be imminent at the moment.

Watts said of his latest understanding of Ezesaga:
“For a long time I thought Eze was perfect for Arsenal and wanted him to cement his interest in the Crystal Palace guy all summer.
“I think he’s the type of player that Arsenal needs to add to his offensive options. Some of that Maverick type player, someone who can play on the left, plays more centrally and brings real creativity to that area.
“I really like the business Arsenal has done so far this summer, but I believe they need to add one more to their attack to get things to finish off on the left a bit.”
He added: “I still feel that Eze has space and his arrival will greatly enhance Arsenal’s chances of success this season, so it’s going to be a blow to see him go elsewhere, especially the Spurs.
“But I have to admit that I wasn’t surprised to find out they had strengthened their interest in him. As soon as James Madison picked up his injury, it felt inevitable that they would move quickly for Eze.
“Arsenal’s interest never faded, it was there all summer and this always felt like it would happen late in the window, even if it happened.
“If Ethan Nuwaneri’s contract talks didn’t go well, Arsenal might have accelerated things, but the focus has shifted somewhat to trying to move players as Nuwaneri put the pen on paper for a long-term deal.
“Arsenal has spent a lot of money this summer and hasn’t brought anything in it. That’s the focus for now, and Tottenham probably knows that and is trying to take advantage of the opportunity.”
Does Arsenal need to sign eze?
Arsenal fans are clearly craving players on Eze’s profile. This is an unpredictable and versatile player who can add a little X-factor to his team and provide game-changing moments.
We have certainly seen Eze do it at the palace, but it’s easy to imagine him being able to continue performing like that for a bigger club.
Still, the 27-year-old may not have a clear role for him on the Arsenal side. Madueque is taking part as a new leftist this summer, but the club already has Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Torosad in their books in that position.
Eze can also play in the middle, but it seems he probably won’t start regularly when Mikel Arteta is already playing the club’s captain Martin Odegaard.
Perhaps Arsenal simply decided that the deal was not worth it because of the costs that could be involved.
