Arsenal has identified Newcastle United star Anthony Gordon as a potential target for its summer target, according to forwarding news expert Fabrizio Romano.
Romano confirmed to Givemesport that the gunner was a genuine admirer of Gordon.
There has been no official contact with Newcastle United or Gordon representatives, but the 24-year-old is firmly present on Arsenal’s radar as the club appears to add depth and quality to the wide offensive area.
Arsenal thank Newcastle United star Anthony Gordon
Joining Newcastle from Everton, Gordon was impressed by the Magpie performance and showed off his goal score and his ability to create goals.
He scored the 2024/25 season at St James Park, scoring nine goals and providing seven assists in 42 appearances in all competitions, further increasing his reputation as one of the Premier League’s offensive talents.
Romano said:
“Arsenal’s interest is true, he was one of their favourite players, and they discussed it internally.
“But what I understand is not that Arsenal has begun negotiations with Newcastle or his agents.
“That’s a thank you to the players, but I think for the Arsenal wingers, they have to be a little patient before they know who the players they really want to sign.”
Adding players like Gordon that brings energy, Premier League experience and versatility can reduce the workload of Buka Yosaka and Gabriel Martinelli, offering additional options in a wider position along with Leandro Torosad.
Will Gordon leave Magpie this summer?
For Newcastle, Gordon remains a key player and the club will remain eager to say goodbye to one of the best performers, unless a critical offer is made.
However, with Premier League clubs under pressure to manage the Rules of Profits and Sustainability (PSR), Arsenal could be in a position to test Newcastle’s resolve if they decide to formalise their interests.
If Arsenal decides to advance their interests, this move could represent a major addition to Arteta’s team as they aim to build on recent advancements and challenges for key honors next season.
Journalist Charles Watts describes Newcastle Winger Gordon as a “top player.”
