The Atlanta Hawks have undoubtedly been one of the busiest teams in the NBA this offseason.
First of all, Clint Capella, the Charis Lever River, Larry Nance JR and several more players set out for free agency.
The Hawks signed both Nikkill Alexander Walker and Luke Kennard and traded them for Christaps Porzingis of the Boston Celtics.
They now confirmed the signature of a former Orlando Magic player who excels in three-point shooting.
Caleb Hautang initially struggled to find a new team after Magic unlocked him at the end of the 2024/25 season.
The Hawks have since been heavily linked to the small forward movement, but the deal was not announced until Tuesday, August 19th.
Houstan will find it difficult to create a head coach for Quinsnyder next season, but one attribute will make him stand out.
The 22-year-old shot 40% off three people in Magic last season, making him the best long-range shooting game on the roster.
He could be a valuable bench scorer, especially if he plays with Trae Young, the master who creates opportunities for others.
Social media response to Houstan’s deal summarises the impact he will have on the Hawks who will be taking part in Eastern Conferences next season.
A fan of Atlanta wrote: “This is a great pick for Atlanta. Caleb is a great 6’7 shooter and a great defender who works very hard.
Another post: “He’s a shooter game Fashoe. You just need to do it consistently, but he and Kennard are off the bench.
Meanwhile, Orlando’s magic fans are generally disappointed to see Hautang leave and often wish him in Atlanta.
“I promise he will have the best work ethic on the entire roster,” one commented. “Ask your teammates mid-season and I hope he gets a few minutes.”
Two more answers read: “I already miss him! You’re better off treating him right” and “Please take care of him.”
