The Memphis Grizzlies have lost three games in a row since firing Taylor Jenkins.
A 134-125 defeat in the April 1 showdown with the Golden State Warriors caused three consecutive losses for the Memphis Grizzlies.
This is noteworthy considering the team decided to fire head coach Taylor Jenkins in a shocking move at the end of last week.
Tuomas Iisalo has taken over tentatively, and his side is currently suffering losses against top-tier opponents, the LA Lakers, the Boston Celtics and now the Golden State Warriors.
Following the last two losses, the Grizzlies threw everything that faces the Warriors. The stakes were high as the losers fell to the sixth spot in the fierce Western Conference rankings.
Despite Ja Morant’s 36 points, Jaren Jackson Jr. poured 22 points and seven boards, and Desmond Bane’s 19 boards.
Isaro couldn’t hide his true feelings about losing his team’s efforts again after being defeated by the warriors.
“It’s very difficult to ask any more of our peers,” the Finnish mentor said.
“That type of competitiveness, camaraderie on the court, they really do make everything right, so they deserve a reward for it. But unfortunately for us, it wasn’t these first three games.
“As we head to the next game, we’ll do everything we can to make it (win).”
Of Iisalo’s comments and Grizzlies’ continued downslide, Memphis fans appeared to be on alert across the NBA social media platforms.
“It’s a moral victory, it’s a must, and the team has been shortened as they did most of the season against a respectable team.”
Another addition: “Cryman has to do this offseason to save his _____ job. Our roster is not built for basketball and the postseason.”
And the third writes:
“I’m sorry, but it was insane to fire Taylor Jenkins,” another added.
A further message states, “If you want to see what the assistant can do, you won’t give him 10 games at the end of the year, and probably won’t give him an exit for the first round.”
After fighting for teeth and claws with three Memphis rival teams, the Grizzlies head to the road and try to play a bounceback against the Miami Heat on April 3rd.
