Ferrari “Rash Upgrade” in talk of basic design flaws

Ferrari is “hurried upgrading” in Bahrain Grampuri to take over the disastrous start to the 2025 Formula 1 season.

It had a very overwhelming and disappointing start to Ferrari’s campaign, finishing fourth in the Constructors Championship and 76 points behind McLaren just three races later.

Ferrari was behind his rivals and bars, taking pole position and won the Chinese sprint race courtesy of Lewis Hamilton.

Formula 1’s most famous team is set to introduce key floor upgrades in Bahrain this weekend to save the season.

According to Sky Sports F1 commentator David Croft, the upgrade package was originally scheduled for the Miami Grand Prix next month and is being tracked quickly.

“Faced with that, Ferrari has a car that works very well when it’s full of fuel,” Croft told Sky Sports News.

“They got a sprint alongside Lewis Hamilton and won with convincingness.

“Are there any basic design flaws? We’ll start looking at the evidence this week, as Ferrari is upgrading to a truck that could have been designed for Miami, and is in a hurry to upgrade.

“But it’s a sprint weekend, and practice time is limited, so it’s very difficult to actually dial the setup changes required for these upgrades.

“So they were rushing in their faces, so there’s something wrong with the car that allows the Ferrari to run low enough on full fuel.

“We know. I don’t know the answer to that, and while Ferrari keeps his lips firmly in place, as you can understand, the evidence is on the track on a different racetrack than in Japan.

“Lewis Hamilton and Charles LeClair have had success in the past, even though they are restricted to the rear, not the front tires.”

What’s wrong with Ferrari’s 2025 F1 car?

Ferrari made major concept changes to the car over the winter and switched to a pull-rod front suspension layout to find performance improvements following the narrow constructor championship defeat to McLaren in 2024.

Since the start of the season, there has been speculation in the paddock that Ferrari has been suffering from challenger and ride height issues in 2025.

Ferrari has tight lips on the rumored issues, but it is widely believed that it can’t drive in the optimal ride, sacrificing critical downforce and lap time.

Hamilton and Leclair hinted at the issue of the SF25 and admitted that they had fixed their hopes for the planned upgrade.

“We’ve found something on the car that has performed poorly in the last three races, so we hope that when it’s fixed, we’ll get a better result,” Hamilton said in Japan.

“We’ve lost more laps than the first lap on this issue we have. We hope that in the next race it’s fixed.”
