Sunderland fans were quickly and in a row with two exciting forwarding updates at lunchtime Wednesday.
The club confirmed the signature of Chemsdine Talbi from Club Bruges this afternoon. He could soon be followed by another winger.
Sunderland approaches Simon Adintra’s deal
At 2pm, Sky Sports Reporter Keith Downey used X to reveal that Blackcat had agreed to a £20 million deal to sign Simon Addingra from Brighton.
A journalist posted: “Sunderland has agreed to Simon Adinra’s fees with Brighton. #safc Brighton will pay £18 million + £2.5 million with the Winger add-on. The 23-year-old is diving northeast on a private jet to receive medical care. Personal terms are also agreed.
“Sunderland tried to sign Ivory Coast International in January with a Tommy Watson swap, but it fell on the deadline.”
Adingra can drive Sunderland fans out of their seats when he joins
Tarbi will be added to Regis Le Bliss’ choice on the right flank, and the apparently pressing addition of Adingra strengthens the black cat on the opposite wing.
Brighton forward hasn’t been that prolific in his two years in the UK so far (just 12 goals and five assists in 73 appearances), but he was able to add a lot of excitement and unpredictability to Sunderland’s offense.
Tactical writer Adrian Clark outlined how the 23-year-old brings “X-Factor,” boasting “fast feet that help you skip the inside or outside of a fullback,” while also praising the tendency to shoot and flash crosses along the face of the goal from a dribble (PremierLeague.com).
Former Black Cats striker and current Seagull star Danny Welbeck also welcomed Adingra as a “dangerous” winger in a one-on-one situation, showing off two assists in the Africa Cup of Nations Finals in 2024 when the Ivory Coast won a tournament that could thrive on major occasions.
Assuming everyone is planning medical care, Sunderland fans could soon have another new wing wizard to enjoy watching the Light Stadium when they return to the Premier League!
