The Toronto Raptors recently appeared as a trade candidate for Giannis Antetocomo, but adding him was a 12-year project.
Giannis Antetokounmpo will be a central figure in the NBA offseason, with all teams expected to show at least some interest in the superstars. Earlier this week, the Toronto Raptors appeared at the forefront of possible with the Anteto Compo sweepstakes.
After all, Toronto is a young core and appears to be on track to finish the rebuild, but adding Greek freaks quickly becomes a title contender.
Antetokounmpo has created a ferocious focus, and fans may not be surprised at all.
I don’t remember that the 2013 NBA Draft is such a great thing, except for Antetokounmpo and Rudy Gobert.
When the Bucks drafted 15th overall Antetokounmpo, they didn’t know they would be the best of all time.
But it’s not just a team keen to add Giannis. In the video, filmed in the Raptors’ war room, Masai Ujiri is about to trade the 2015 pick for the Oklahoma City Thunder to win the 12th pick he used in Giannis.
Of course, the Thunder’s 12th pick was originally from the Raptors, and traded it for Kyle Lowry.
Raleigh is undoubtedly the greatest bird of prey to date, but Giannis would have been a better cornerstone.
The Raptors also tried to add their 14th pick from the Minnesota Timber Wolves. The Minnesota Timberwolves continued to draft Trae Burk before trading for Golguidien and Shabaz Muhammad.
Both the Raptors and Bucks won the title as Toronto failed to steal the Anteto Compo from the Bucks in 2013, but neither team is currently competing. The Raptors have young All-Star Scotty Burns, but he could be included in trade with the Bucks.
Milwaukee can play long games and wait for offers that cannot be rejected this summer, as the owner of the largest trading assets.
However, due to 12 years of obsession, Ujiri appears to be more likely than any other executive to offer the Godfather trade package.
John Hammond is often praised for choosing Giannis, but he is not the only executive on his board, and Ujiri has long revealed that Antetocomo is his ideal player.
