According to Alfredo Pedulla, former Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri hopes to sign Blues’ left-back Ben Chilwell for Lazio this summer.
I write in his exclusive column Catch off sidePedura explained that there were many names on the list of Surrey’s targets in that position in Lazio, and that Chilwell was among them.
The other is someone with a Chelsea connection. Former blues left-back Emerson Palmieri is currently publishing a book at West Ham United.
Chillwell was previously tilted to leave Stamford Bridge this summer, according to the Daily Mail and others, but now it looks like he can get a surprise move for Serie A.
Will Ben Chilwell leave for Lazio?
Writing in today’s column, Pedra states: “The name of Maurizio Sari’s wish list is already known: Emerson Palmeli (who has a high wage), Ben Chilwell, or Aaron Martin on his left flank.
“Raspadri can play as a centre or winger forward, so Sally can play like Dorise Mertens, so Sally started under Sally as a winger before he realized his potential as a centre ahead in an emergency.
“Important note: these are players like Lazio. The rest still needs to be developed. There’s no point in being hooked. Unless surprises occur, expect slow progress.”
What else can Chelsea do on the left back?
Chelsea may be suitable for offloading unnecessary backup players like Chilwell, as they can free up rooms for the Ajax Wonderkid jorrel Hato.
Chelsea have discussed pigeons, but the versatile Dutch defender who can manage well as centre-backs and left-backs also has admirers in Arsenal, Liverpool and Newcastle United.
Meanwhile, Mark Kukulera is now the first choice in that position on Enzo Maresca’s side, but perhaps the place the West London giant feels like it can strengthen this summer.
