Former Chelsea manager Roberto Di Matteo suggests that Bruce can do this summer by signing a new striker.
DiMatteo, who won the Champions League at Chelsea in 2012, praised Nicholas Jackson, but revealed that his old club could do more in that area of the pitch.
Jackson was not entirely convincing if he showed any indication that he could develop into a top-class player with a bit more experience under his belt during his time at Stamford Bridge.
Di Matteo ideally hopes that Chelsea has someone with such experience and proven track record now, and could play that new striker up front with Jackson.
That means a change in the formation of CFC Manager Enzo Maresca.
Roberto di Matteo’s transfer advice to Chelsea before summer
Di Matteo spoke only to Ladbrokes and revealed that the position he first saw this summer will be on the front line.
“When it comes to strengthening your team in the summer, you’re probably looking in the middle. First of all, they’re extremely talented teams, but they probably lack a bit of experience in terms of many successful players who have played in the Premier League for many years and know specific ways to win the game,” Di Matteo said.
“You can only get that experience for a few minutes and a few minutes in the league. I really like Nicholas Jackson and he can only get better. But I think Chelsea need a striker who tries to score 25 goals in a season.
“But that’s not a criticism of Jackson. I think another striker will allow you the option to play at times with two upfront payments.”
