In the 1990s, Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls stumbled upon the other things and dominated the NBA.
Michael Jordan helped the Chicago Bulls win six NBA championships.
This is evident from Jordan’s 10 scoring titles in his career. Mike was undoubtedly the best scoring shooting guard in the league, but what about the others?
Now, former New York Knicks star Alan Houston shed light on why the 1990s housed some of the most prolific scoring guards of all time.
Even today, NBA legend Tracy McGrady is considered one of the most talented scorers of all time.
Certainly, he retired without winning the NBA Championship, but McGrady was appointed Naismith’s Hall of Fame due to his sensational scoring ability.
Houston recently gave McGrady his flowers by placing him in the same league as MJ.
“I think there is a bias in the 90s, but I don’t know if there will be a better time for two security guards.
“Your obvious, your Michael, Tracy McGrady, was probably someone who stands out other than Michael,” Houston told Combo TV.
He then named some shooting guards who had the knack for scoring freely.
“You can go from Vince Carter to Stackhouse, Ray Allen, which means even when I was younger, Joe Dumars and Doug West and Ricky Pierce,” he added.
The modern NBA era has a significant proportion of deadly shooting guards, but according to Houston, players in the 1990s were cut from another fabric.
“I mean, you go through the ’90s. You could see all the teams in the ’90s in that position, they were assassins and they knew that,” the Ex-Knicks star continued.
According to Houston, the icing on the cake was the fact that the 1990s were a much more difficult time scoring.
“You knew it was every night, there would be heat. I think it would be difficult to score in the 90s,” he concluded.
